Just a mom who prays light over darkness, praising our Father who can do what only he can do. Learning. Trusting. Encouraging.

Why do I start every prayer with a "thank you"?
As someone who struggled with anxiety and depression in my past, keeping a gratitude journal was helpful for me. When I approach my Heavenly Father, I want to have a posture of gratefulness and respect. Before I ask, I want to praise. I have had to retrain myself to pray this way, intentionally. With God's grace, I have been working toward a shift in my expectations from God. My view of God has changed from a mean man with the gavel to a loving Father who has a plan for me. I'm not naive to the craziness in the world but I have been in the Word and praying to realize the truth of who God is, the security in His promises, and His sovereignty. I believe in my Savior, I believe in the Bible, and I definitely believe in the power of prayer. Please consider praying with me.

Bad Reputation

How would you answer this application question that was recently asked in a women’s Bible study: “How attached are you to your reputation? To your stuff?” In high school I wrote a poem called “Strange Popularity” and that phrase is one that makes so much sense to me. I was known more than popular. Through His Eyes

What makes us able to switch overnight from asking for help to rejecting help in the morning?  She was so excited about this plan to wear a dress, jewelry, a special hairstyle and nails. Nails were done the night prior and hair started. Morning came and it was not happening. Not only was it not happening, it was going in reversal. Her and I are a lot alike and neither of us are morning people. Getting to school and work without disappointment and disruption is an obstacle. Thankfully this bump in our road became a teaching and reflection for my walk with Jesus and won't be wasted.  Just the night before I had started reading Gentle and Lowly by Dane Ortlund . Follows & Likes

(updated 2/5/18, originally published 1/1/17) Even after a year I still need to be cautious about getting too caught up in how many followers or likes there are on this blog. My uncle is a missionary in Puerto Rico and has been for over 40 years. He was in town on furlough Christmas of 2016 and I was privileged to hear him speak. He mentioned how people that follow the mission may get concerned with how big or small the number of people there are in the PR congregation. My uncle said, " its not in the numbers" . Absolutely! It is too easy to get drawn into the statistics of how to get more likes and more reach on Facebook specifically. It's not about that. It's about God's love. God's love is more than a Bible verse post on a cool image. It is so much MORE!!! Look outside and see the undeniable work of our most amazing Father.
